To Dated: 5th September 2011

Sh Mukul Pande,

Director,

Rajya Sabha Secretariat,

Parliament House/Annexe,

New Delhi‐1

Sub: Alleged use of derogatory words during the agitation and its telecast by the Star News Channel – matter

of breach of privilege

Dear Sir,

I am in receipt of your letter/notice on the above subject. It is alleged in this letter/notice that I have used"derogatory words", which were allegedly "telecast by the Star News Channel". I have carefully gone through the letter/notice and all annexures thereto. However, the words alleged to have been said by me and found to be "derogatory" by the Hon'ble Members of Parliament have not been intimated to me in the said letter/notice. I would urge you to kindly provide me copies of the tapes of my speech along with the transcripts and indicate the words used by me in those speeches, which offended Hon'ble Members of Parliament.

I have gone through the complaint made by Sh Jesudasu Seelam. He has complained that he is giving notice against me and Ms Kiran Bedi "…for using abusive language against Members of Parliament today (emphasis provided)…". Kindly provide me with copies of the speeches made by me on 27.8.2011 (the day the complaint was made) which have been referred by him and kindly indicate the words, which he found "abusive".

I have also gone through the complaint made by Sh Mohammad Adeeb. He has alleged that "during the recent agitation and fast undertaken by Shri Anna Hazare, his associates such as Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Smt Kiran Bedi and Shri Prashant Bhushan launched a tirade against the Members of Parliament and the Parliament and they continuously used derogatory language against the People's Representatives and in effect denigrated the Parliament. They even went to the extent of saying that the  Members of Parliament take money for passing Bills in Parliament, etc." Again, kindly provide me with the copies of the tapes and transcripts of the speeches referred to and kindly indicate the words which the Hon'ble Member of Parliament found offensive.

Likewise, kindly indicate which part of the extracts of the debate in Parliament annexed to the letter/notice relate to me.

I hope you would appreciate that I will be able to provide a detailed response only after receiving the above material.

Yours sincerely,

(Arvind Kejriwal)
